Pros:
- This set is worth it for the super-human Isolde of Liane Synek, found here in pristine voice. She manages the extremes of this role with astonishing ease; capping the evening off with an exquisite Liebestod.
- Karl Liebl is excellent as Tristan. It is a shame that there is not more of Act III.
- Conductor Ludwig Kaufmann, a Wiesbaden regular, delivers a surprisingly insightful performance.
Cons:
- The set contains most of Synek's part with the exception of the opening of Act II.
