Pros:
- Astrid Varnay is found in fresh voice, capable of meeting the dramatic demands of Leonora (no surprise there), while also able to scale back her voice. It turns out that she knew a thing or two about coloratura...
- Helge Rosvaenge's tenor sometimes seems a little oversized for Verdi, but he is able to wield it in a way that doesn't sacrifice the legato required to properly acquit the role of Manrico.
Cons:
- For the most part the sound is decent considering it is a broadcast from the 1950s, however it takes a turn for the worse in the final scene.
