Verdi: Attila - Hines, Tatum, Glossop, Cossutta; Pritchard. Buenos Aires, 1966

$9.95

Description:

In recent months, I’ve come across numerous performances of Attila from the 1960s and 70s, likely a testament to the abundance of fine basses during that era. Jerome Hines demonstrates just how compelling this opera can be when led by a great voice. While his stage presence may have been somewhat reserved, his singing is marked by smoothness and security.

Peter Glossop stands out as Ezio, delivering a performance with fresh, virile tone. Nancy Tatum brings an appropriately wild energy to Odabella, capturing the role’s intensity. The sound is good.
