- Leonie Rysanek brings astonishing power to the title role which this live recording, crude as it may be, does a good job of capturing.
- Martha Mödl's voice is certainly past its prime, however she brings vivid engagement to the role of Herodias.
Cons:
- The sound sometimes favors the orchestra.
- The Dance of the Seven Veils is not included.
- There is a distant clicking sound (probably from the tape deck) throughout the performance.
