Virginia Zeani was an artist of great versatility and possessed a voice that defied classification. She was able to alternate easily between Rossini, Puccini. That said, if she had a home base it was probably the Verissmo repertoire as this performance bears out. As Fedora she is simply captivating from her entrance to her death scene. Her characterization is riveting without going over the top, and she is successful at creating a compelling character out of a second rate libretto. Aldo Bottion is serviceable as Loris. The sound is good.
