Giordano's Fedora has been and always will be a star vehicle.  It was one of the many operas that was inspired by the great Sarah Bernhardt.  Suffice it to say that if you are mounting it, you better have a truly glamorous soprano for the title part.  The Venetians found just that in Marcella Pobbe.  She is an ideal exponent of this role.  She had remarkable control over her voice and although this is generally a part that sopranos save for their declining years, she is able to bring ravishing beauty to the part.   More than vocal splendor, she brings palpable glamour.  She was a very beautiful woman and was able to convey that beauty through the way she shaped the text.  The sound is very good.
