Der Freischütz has fallen out of favor in recent years. I must admit whenever I hear it I picture men in Lederhosen and women with blond braids. So when I cam across this performance in Italian I knew it would be good fun. Bratwurst alla Milanese. Sena Jurinac proves once again that she could sing almost everything. Boris Christoff is a luxury as Kaspar. In the end, great singers can make almost any opera work in any language.
