Pros:
- Although much of the compositional style of Medea is born out of the classical period, the title character is clearly pointing towards the great dramatic sopranos roles of the 19th and 20th century, making Inge Borkh a natural casting choice. Borkh brings all of her intensity, while displaying a technique that has no trouble navigating the dramatic and delicate moments of the role.
- Sieglinde Wagner will be mostly remembered for her numbered roles (i.e. Third Lady, Third Rhinemaiden, etc), however her portrayal of Neris shows that perhaps she was underutilized. Her Act II aria, in particular, is gorgeously sung.
Cons:
- Ludwig Suthaus's Giasone lacks any kind of Classical grace.
