Pros:
- Whenever I listen to Cherubini, I feel like I am getting a window into the direction Mozart would have headed if he had lived longer. They were only born four years apart, and while Cherubini always maintains a classical foundation, both musically and in his subject matter, he seems to pick up where Mozart left off in Die Zauberflöte with expanded orchestration, grander ensembles as well as harmonic invention that is dictated more by the drama than by preconceived notions of form.
- In the role of Noraime, Anita Cerquetti 's oversized soprano pushes the envelope a bit towards late romanticism, but still manages to retain the requisite classical elegance.
Cons:
- None to mention.
