Recital: Leonie Rysanek & Giselbert Wolfgang Kassel - Scenes from Die Walküre, Tannhäuser. Aix-en-Provence, 1972
$2.97
Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- This concert of extended scenes from Tannhäuser and Die Walküre captures Leonie Rysanek in the prime of her storied career. Her voice in the early 70s was beginning to take on a darker hue. This change gave the middle register greater warmth and presence, which in turn, made her all the more effective as Sieglinde, without diminishing her ability to convey the youthful exuberance of Elisabeth in Tannhäuser.
- Giselbert Wolfgang Kassel makes an admirable contribution as Siegmund and Tannhäuser, but Rysanek is the clear star.
Cons:
- None to mention.
In Mono
BONUS:
Leonie Rysanek sings arias from Lohengrin and Der fliegende Holländer.
