It is remarkable that Katia Ricciarelli was only 26 when she sang this performance. It is also a shame that her twenties and early thirties would mark the apex of her vocal powers. She embodies the young martyr with poise and dignity. Flaviano Labò and Mario Sereni lend their services admirably to the roles of Carlo VII and Giacomo respectively. I wish that the sound was a little better but it would be worth it for anybody who is a fan of Ricciarelli early Verdi or both.
