Wagner: Tristan und Isolde - Synek, Hopf, Coster, Kélémen, Okamura; Kertesz. Köln, 1972
$12.95
Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- Hans Hopf brings burnished stoicism to the role of Tristan.
- Liane Synek is thrilling as Isolde, although at times she struggles with the uppermost range of her voice.
- Janet Coster is excellent as Brangäne, and Zoltan Kélémen, an Alberich of note, shows that he has the vocal chops to deliver truly beautiful singing when the occasion arises.
- István Kertész favors a slightly broader approach, giving the singers space to breath without allowing the melodic line to ever feel leaden.
Cons:
- None to mention.
