Although many of the singers on this recording were not well known to me, I found myself completely engrossed by this performance. Helena Braun sings Brünnhilde. Her voice is slender and youthful. Ferdinand Frantz is a suave and tender Wotan and is particularly effective in the last few minutes of the opera. Günther Treptow sings Siegmund with lyrical line and avoids pushing his voice beyond its means. Hilde Konetzni rounds off the cast as Sieglinde. The Vienna Philharmonic plays a crisp performance and Rudolf Moralt doesn't shy away from allowing the brass section to show off to thrilling results. The sound is excellent.
