Pros:

  • Sena Jurinac is radiant as Jenufa, bringing youth and ample tone to the role.
  • Grace Hoffman made a great career singing Frickas and Brangänes, roles that require a high level of artistry but are nonetheless supporting roles. As Kostelnicka, she gets a chance to step front-and-center and shows that she knew how to command a stage, while delivering one of the most beautifully sung Kostelnickas I have heard.
  • It is a rare treat to hear two tenors the caliber of Fritz Uhl and Waldemar Kmentt in the same performance.
