This recording is a wonderful glimpse into the early career of Placido Domingo. Here, still in his twenties, he sings with an understanding and maturity well beyond his years. He delivers a "Vesti la giubba" which is not only vocally stunning but reveals a truly broken man. Although Igor Gorin never reached the heights of fame as Domingo, he is more than worthy to share the stage with the tenor. He is able to dexterously maneuver his over-sized instrument throughout all the extremes of register that this part requires. I do not have that much information on the rest of the cast so if you have clues as to the rest of the performers please leave that information below. The sound is fair. The orchestra occasionally overwhelms the singers.
