Pros:
- When Carol Neblett passed away, I was saddened to see that many of the obituaries focused primarily on the fact that she did a strip-tease when she sang Thaïs. To anyone who knew the scope of her talent, that story would have been a footnote at best, and if I had been the one penning the obit, the headline would have been "One of the Greatest Sopranos of her Generation Has Died." Neblett was the rarest of singer who could sing practically everything. However, her versatility came from more than just a phenomenal vocal technique. She also had a keen sense of style, and an inate sense of phrasing. Miraculously, she managed to incorporate Wagnerian intensity into her Mozart roles, and Mozartian finesse into her Wagnerian roles.
- This compilation features arias and excerpts from Così fan tutte, La Clemenza di Tito, Il Trovatore, La Rondine, Der fliegende Holländer, Die tote Stadt, Mefistofele, Turandot, Louise and Thaïs.
Cons:
- None to mention.
