Gertrude Grob-Prandl's voice was apparently one of the largest of any dramatic soprano including Nilsson and Flagstad.  Whether or not that is true is hard to say however this recording of Elektra reveals a voice that was powerful and wild and her top must have been astonishing heard live.  At times the high notes come out a little shreeky but this may have been a choice as she is able to scale back her voice during the more tender parts like the recognition scene and her second scene with Chrysothemis.  The rest of the cast is also very good including a woman by the name of Gertraud Hopf as Chrysothemis who sounds eerily similar to Leonie Rysanek.  The sound is very good.
