One of the great satisfactions that I derive from having this site is to be able to allow people to access great singers who were overlooked by the record companies in their prime.  One such singer is Jeanette Pilou.  Her sumptuous voice and compelling vocal presence was matched only by her ravishing good looks.  But she was more than just a pretty voice.  She possessed an innate sense of the style of everything she sang, whether it was Italian or French, and in the tradition of the other great Greek sopranos of her day (Callas & Souliotis), she gave everything she had in performance. Sadly, like Callas and Souliotis, this came at a cost to her vocal longevity.  She is joined by Franco Bonisolli whose robust tenor provides an excellent counterpoint to the soft grained voice of Pilou.  Eberhard Waechter, late in his career, brings an avuncular gentleness to Sharpless.  The sound is good.
