This recording of Eugene Onegin is remarkable because it showcases the great Leyla Gencer at the beginning of her career.  She had only made her Italian debut a year earlier and her voice is fresh and lush.  She is joined by Gino Bechi as Onegin who sings like a god.  The final scene is particularly electric.   Tulio Serafin doesn't seem the least bit intimidated by the Russian style and plunges into the score bringing Italianate style.   The sound is not very good but I wanted to make this recording available as a testament of Gencer's great versatility as an artist.
