Dirigent Leopold Ludwig, der auch 1971 in Stuttgart den Ringdirigierte im Siegfried mit Karl Josef Hering und Marion Lippert. In Paris gab es mit beiden Solisten einumjubeltes Siegfried Finale konzertant. Dirigent wieder Leopold Ludwig, auch hier gab es eine PrivateAufzeichnung. Dennoch ist es schön, daß es diese Aufnahme im Internet gibt. Danke.

Another writer, Werner Geilsdorfer (below), mentions that Beirer never sang Siegfried in Stuttgart so this must be another theater as it's definitely Beirer in these excerpts. Mime is listed as unknown, but I am almost sure it is Peter Klein whose very distinctive voice is heard on a number of Ring recordings. Both he and Beirer were over 60 at the time of this performance. You'd never guess it with Beirer as he sounds as he always did, the vibrato rather noisy, but the top true and ringing. Klein's only concession to age is ducking the optional high B Wagner gives Mime right before the Forging Song. Marion Lippert sings Brunnhilde with steady, beautiful tone and proudly displays her top C, holding the optional final one for a long time. I have no idea who the conductor is; he takes the "Ewig war ich" extremely slowly, but Lippert is game.The excerpts here are:Act One - from Siegfried's reentrance after the Mime/Wanderer scene to the end of the act.Act Three - from the awakening of Brunnhilde to the end of the opera so Lippert's entire Siegfried Brunnhilde has been preserved for posterity.The sound is excellent for the Act One excerpts (possibly a broadcast?) and ok for Act Three (it sounds derived from an in-house tape although the voices are clearly heard over the orchestra).For fans of the singers, especially Lippert who made few, if any, studio recordings.

I am really surprised by this recording. Unfortunately, Hans Beirer never made a guest appearance at the Stuttgart house. In fact, there was a Siegfried in Stuttgart in 1971 with Marion Lippert as Brünnhilde, but the title hero was Karl-Josef Hering (Conductor: Leopold Ludwig). I haven't seen the performance, but there is a live recording of the final duet. - However, the voice of Hans Beirer is unmistakably heard on the sample. It must therefore actually be a performance in which Marion Lippert and Hans Beirer sang. But the venue was definitely not Stuttgart.
