Otra grabación de Parsifal, de calidad.

Maybe Horst Stein has not had his due. Here is an outstanding performance in quite excellent sound, allowing the listener to relish orchestral detail that is not always audible even in some studio recordings. It’s a largely experienced cast - Sotin in particularly fine voice, with Weikl and Mazura also in familiar roles. Jerusalem appears fresh-voiced, though just occasionally one senses that he’s nor yet quite as ‘inside’ the role as he would later become. But how gloriously he rises to the challenges of the last Act, in particular. From eldritch screaming to baritonal bellows, Vejzovic is in rude and imperious vocal health: rarely has Kundry’s early line ‘Ich bin muede’ given so inaccurate an idea of the fireworks to follow. It’s a reading that prioritises drama over all else: collectors will know what to expect. In Kilingsor’s flower garden there is the usual quotient of hardy perennials, but this scene is given a welcome impetus by Stein. We are in safe hands throughout, and I have no doubt this recording is the best I have heard from him. Many thanks for making it available.

This is a wonderful Parsifal interpretation. The singers are all at their best, in my humble opinion, and the orchestra is superb. There are some dynamics that allow you to listen even some lines that, in other recordings, are a bit more hidden. The sound is very good, although some noise appears in the Prelude, but in general, it's a pleasure to listen it. Totally recommended
