Pros:
- Mounting a complete Ring Cycle is a herculean task during the best of times. Putting it on just a few years after the devastation of World War II, and during a time when resources were few and far between, is a testament to the tenacious resolve of a public so utterly devoted to opera. These performances were well worth the effort, thanks to the masterful playing of the Wiener Symphoniker under the baton of Rudolf Moralt.
- Ferdinand Frantz's commanding Wotan is a marvel of vocal production.
- Frantz is joined by his wife, Helena Braun (playing his daughter no less), as Brünnhilde in Die Walküre. Braun's slender, yet steely, voice brings youthful athleticism to the role.
- Gertrude Grob-Prandl proves an alluring contrast as the Siegfried and Götterdämmerung Brünnhildes.
Cons:
- None to mention.
