It doesn't really make sense on paper that a singer with the lush quality and ample power that Antonietta Stella possessed would be able to scale back her voice effectively for coloratura. Stella defies conventional wisdom and delivers a Luisa that is both supple and opulent. Giuseppe Di Stefano's voice was starting to show a little wear and tear by 1963, but that doesn't stop him from mustering every ounce of his musicality and commitment that made his performances so special. Cornell MacNeil is in superb form. The sound is very good.
