Pros:

  • Ilva Ligabue is phenomenal as Leonora. I have no idea why she was not a household name.
  • Carlo Bergonzi demonstrates why he was the epitome of class.
  • Giulietta Simionato is an earthy Preziosilla.
  • Nicolai Ghiaurov as Guardiano and Renato Capecchi as Melitone are icing on the cake a very tasty vocal cake.

Cons:

  • Unfortunately, Piero Cappuccilli seems indisposed, barely making it through "Son pereda". He is replaced by Carlo Meliciani who does very well.
