Pros:
- Although possibly a shade or two lighter than your average Tosca, Pilar Lorengar manages the treacherous role with élan.
- Ingvar Wixell achieves sufficient menace as Scarpia without ever sacrificing the beauty of his suave baritone.
- You wouldn't think that Puccini would be a good fit for Lorin Maazel, but he brings detailed insight to the score as well as a keen sense for dramatic pacing.
- The sound is excellent.
Cons:
- None to mention.
