Listen to a Sample:
In Act II of this performance Renata Tebaldi, as Butterfly, sees the Pinkerton's ship. The resulting declamation of "E torna e m'ama!" is one of the most astounding moments in opera I have ever heard. She gives everything she has for that one note. The audience explodes with applause That is just one of the many glorious moments of the performance in a role that she did not sing often enough. She is well supported by Gianni Raimondi, Anna Di Stasio and Giuseppe Valdengo but the evening belongs to her. The sound is very good.
