Despite becoming one of opera’s first true jet-setting stars, Jussi Björling never lost touch with his Swedish roots, often returning to sing in his native language. One of the hallmarks of Björling's artistry—aside from his glorious voice—was the authenticity he brought to his roles, a quality that becomes even more pronounced when he sings in Swedish. That emotion is palpable, especially at the climax of "No, Pagliaccio non son!"

He is joined by an excellent group of Swedish singers who, while they may not match his international star power, serve as a testament to the rich vocal tradition in Sweden at the time. Particularly impressive is Ruth Moberg as Nedda, who brings both a gleaming top and a fiery spirit to the role.
