Giordano: Siberia - Maragliano, Zambon, Monachesi, Clabassi; Belardinelli. Milano, 1973
$5.37
Listen to a Sample:
Pros:
- Five years after the success of Fedora, Umberto Giordano returns to a libretto set in Russia, although this time he trades gilded salons for a prison camp. The score has all of the sweeping grandeur of Andrea Chénier with an earnest attempt to create an authentic Russian atmosphere as well as depict the brutality of the setting.
Cons:
- The sound alternates between quite clear and slightly muffled.
