Gertrude Grob-Prandl
If you aren't yet familiar with the artistry of Gertrude Grob-Prandl, your Wagnerian education is incomplete. She possessed a voice of enormous power coupled with astonishing control—an exceptionally rare combination. Few sopranos have distinguished themselves equally as Elettra in Idomeneo and in the title role of Strauss's Elektra, but Grob-Prandl did so with distinction. This compilation features arias and scenes from Idomeneo, Turandot, Elektra, Tannhäuser, Tristan und Isolde, Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung.
