Amy Shuard
Why did Amy Shuard have to come of age in an era of Birgit Nilssons, Leonie Rysaneks and Astrid Varnays? In a time with such an abundance of riches her talent was never fully appreciated. Viewed through a contemporary lens in which lyric sopranos sing Isoldes and Elektras it is easier to appreciate her brilliance. I am very happy to be able to share some of the great moments of this unique soprano's career. Highlights include a sleep walking scene from Macbeth that is a lesson in vocal control, a thrilling narration and curse from Tristan und Isolde as well as excerpts from Die Walküre, Katya Kabanova and Götterdämmerung.
