Exciting Performance in Mediocre Sound!
The cast of this performance is so good one wishes it was recorded in better sound. It is pitched correctly, but the solo voices are heard in the middle distance and one gets tired of straining to hear them after a while. Siepi is in his element as is the young Carreras. Neblett is good in both of her roles, but a better recording would have told us so much more about her interpretation. Guadagno leads his forces with authority.Neblett is great in the Turandot excerpt (also in distant sound), but who thought it was a good idea for her to sing this role?

Wonderful Record of a Wonderful Performance
Really great performance with three outstanding leads in great form. The only caveat is that the sound quality is not great.

Gritty sound quality
Upsetting. The performance wasn’t bad when you could hear it, which was rarely. A very disappointing purchase. I should have listened to the sample.
