Another offering of the great but underrepresented Ludmila Dvorakova. Here in her prime, one marvels at the rich, contralto-quality of her voice. And then she goes up to glorious top notes in a way that seems to defy gravity. She is joined by Wolfgang Windgassen. For a tenor in the twilight of his career he sings with amazing security negotiating the terrifying assent at the end of his aria without any of the common grunting that one often hears. The sound is very good.
