Pros:
- When considering the career of Hans Hotter, probably the first thing that comes to mind is his contributions to the Solti Ring Cycle as Wotan in Die Walküre and Siegfried. And although those performances are near definitive, they were captured just slightly passed his prime. This World War II era performance finds him at the height of his vocal powers without any trace of the "woofiness" that would creep in later in his career.
- Viorica Ursuleac is amazing as Senta. She brings all the single-minded passion of Leonie Rysanek with the sensitivity of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
- Clemens Krauss delivers a measured yet thoughtful performance, aided by the incredible work of the Bavarian State Opera Chorus and Orchestra.
Cons:
- None to mention.
