Pros:
- Despite the fact that the sound is not ideal and portions of the performance are missing, this recordings offers a tantalizing glimpse into the remarkable casting powers of the Vienna Staatsoper in the 1970s.
- Catarina Ligendza is in top-form as Brünnhilde.
- Hans Beirer brings a burly sweetness to the role of Siegfried.
- The rest of the cast speaks for intself: Karl Ridderbusch as Hagen, Thomas Stewart as Gunther, Gundula Janowitz as Gutrune, Grace Hoffman as Waltraute and even Lotte Rysanek as Woglinde.
Cons:
- The sound is not great.
