Evelyn Lear proves herself to be commanding presence on the recital stage. The highlights for me were a stunning Siebe frühe Lieder (Berg) and an exquisitely delicate rendition of Debussy's Ariettes Oubliées.
Throughout some of the selections in the first half, there is a faint ghost of a previous performance that was recorded on the master tapes.
