This performance captures Alfredo Kraus in the prime of his career singing a role that few if not no one have sung better.   His voice is suave and negotiates the tessitura with ease.  His Elvira is the fine soprano Adriana Maliponte.  She had a voice that had remarkable agility given its size and warmth which made her equally at home in Puccini and Verdi as well as the bel canto coloratura roles.  Rounding out the cast are two relatively young singers: Piero Cappuccilli as Riccardo and Ruggiero Raimondi as Sir Giorgio.  Both exhibit their enormous potential compelling the audience to demand an encore of "Suoni la tromba."  Gianandrea Gavazzeni delivers an interpretation steeped in Italian style the likes of which you never get to hear today.  The sound is excellent except I should point out that the end of the Act I Elvira/Giorgio duet is missing.
