This is truly a Tristan und Isolde for the ages.  Or let me be more specific.  This is an Isolde for the ages in the form of Ursula Schöder-Feinen.  It is so refreshing to hear a soprano sing this role who actually sounds comfortable.  The high notes are gleaming and free of ugliness or labor.   I was particularly blown away by the line "mit ihr gab er es preis!" in the Narration and Curse.  The rest of the performance is very sturdy.  Tristan is sung by Gerd Brenneis.  His voice may not be that of a true Heldentenors but it is robust and attractive and be paces himself very well treating us to a great high A at "Zu ihr, zu ihr!"  The sound is good.
