Bellini: La Straniera - Scotto, Coini, Campi, Zilio, Trimarchi, Mazzieri; Sanzogno. Palermo, 1968
Listen to a Sample:
It seems that Renata Scotto sang every bel canto role conceivable in the 60s and 70s. Here she lends her talents to the role of Alaide, the hermit-girl with the heart of gold (I'm not making this up.) With a lot of bel canto opera, it is not about the story but the singing and here Scotto delivers, blending long lines with coloratura and of course high notes galore. The sound is very good.
