- If the off chance that there is anyone on the planet who had doubts about Renata Tebaldi, I would direct them to this Gala performance, presented on the 30th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini's death. Her tone is gleaming, the top works perfectly, and the voice has seemingly endless reserves.
- Giuseppe di Stefano is also in excellent voice, matching Tebaldi in intensity and style.
- Giuseppe Taddei shows some signs of strain at the top of his voice, but rounds out the trio nicely.
