Pros:
- This may be some of the finest singing I have ever heard from tenor Hans Hopf and for that matter one of the finest performances of the role of Siegfried. He tosses off the forging scene as if it were a mere trifle in Act I, yet it is the forest scene where he really displays true his artistry, delivering impeccable lyricism and sensitivity in the monologue in which he reflects on never having known his mother.
- Astrid Varnay is nothing short of glorious during Brünnhilde's (relatively) brief appearance in Act III.
- Zoltan Kélémen delivers an Alberich for the ages.
- Randolph Symonette seems more comfortable in the role of the Wanderer than he was in the earlier operas.
Cons:
- The sound lacks depth and there are some unfortunate drop-outs.
