Fabulous performance!   Martina Arroyo got the reputation of being a house soprano at the Met but this proves that she was no house soprano.  Her high C in "O patria mia" is perfectly exceuted, a feat that has eluded many great stars who have sung this role.   Someone once told me that singers are either warriors or lovers.   Carlo Bergonzi is clearly both.   He gets off to a great start in "Celeste Aida" and maintains that level throughout.  Cornell MacNeil roars as Amonasro.  Highly recommended!
