All around this is a very satisfying performance of Simon Boccanegra.  Ingvar Wixell sings the doge.  His bright timbre conveys more youth than one might want in this part, but he makes up for it with a very sincere performance.  Maria Chiara was somewhat overlooked in her career, never breaking into the upper echelons of the operatic world.  Although her voice may lack star quality, it works consistently and she has an innate sense for Verdi that carries her very far.  The sound is fair to good.
