Leyla Gencer was of the rarest breeds- a true Verdi coloratura soprano. Anybody who knows the roles of Lady Macbeth and Elvira know the distinction- a soprano who has agility and power at the same time. Here she uses those resources along with her acting still marvelously, soaring from High C to low C with flawless technique. The sound is very good.
