- A young Leonie Rysanek steals the show in this performance of Tannhäuser. She opens with a stunning "Dich, teure Halle", but perhaps more impressive is her deeply committed performance of Elisabeth's Act III aria "Allmächt'ge Jungfrau", an aria that can often bring the action to a complete halt by a lesser artist.
- Max Lorenz was nearing the end of his career, but still does an impressive job navigating this treacherous part.
