Pros:

  • The main attraction of this recording is a rare glimpse of Montserrat Caballé singing baroque opera. Purists might balk at some of the choices, but Caballé uses her renowned vocal control to spin some truly luxurious melodic lines.
  • Kostas Paskalis brings grace and refinement to the title role.
  • Huguette Tourangeau is excellent as Sesto.

Cons:

  • Their are many cuts in the performance, and the order of the arias has been totally rearranged.
