Pros:
- Birgit Nilsson makes a triumphant home-coming as Isolde, nearly outdoing her performance in the legendary Bayreuth, 1966 performance.
- She is well-paired with Kerstin Meyer's warm Brangäne.
- The real revelation, however, is Silvio Varviso's idiomatic, and astonishingly detailed interpretation (although he does rush Nilsson through the climax of the Liebestod.)
- The sound is very good.
Cons:
- Kenneth Neate gets through the role of Tristan, but that's about all you can say about his performance.
