This performance pairs a relative new-comer, Katia Ricciarelli with the tried and true Carlo Bergonzi. Both excel in their roles. Ricciarelli's voice possessed amazing agility which she seems to relish showing off in her first cabaletta. If Carlo Bergonzi is a little tentative in some of the high and exposed parts of this role he is right at home in the bel canto bringing his years of experience and innate Italian style to every note. Renato Bruson is a suave Di Luna. Bianca Berini is a very good as Azucena alternating remarkably between the tender and the hysterical. The sound is very good. As I bonus I have included Katia Ricciarelli singing the arias from La Traviata.
