Sena Jurinac was a singer who not only sang every type of role imaginable, but also distinguished herself in almost everything she did. And her Butterfly is no exception. She sings with extreme delicacy in Act I only to switch into overdrive in the subsequent acts as Butterfly's situation becomes more dire. She is joined by Charles Craig as Pinkerton. Craig's over-sized tenor voice was not necessarily Italianate by nature, but he nonetheless demonstrates a keen sense of style. Josephine Veasey offers what may be one of the finest sung Suzukis I have ever heard. The sound is fair to good.
