Pros:
- One has to admire the courage of the administration of Covent Garden for mounting a monumental production with a first-rate cast of an opera that was all but unknown at the time. Needless to say, they make an excellent argument for the piece's considerable merits.
- A young Jon Vickers sings the role of Enée with youthful vigor. In addition to his one-of-a-kind tenor voice, he must be applauded for his crystal-clear diction.
- Likewise, the opulence of Amy Shuard's silvery soprano never obscures her engagement the text. (This is truly a lesson for young singers, or anyone who in the past has been turned off by opera in English.)
Cons:
- None to mention.
