Listen to a Sample:
There was only one Berlioz. His sound was unique in the world of music and his odd musical sensibility was a great match for the Faust legend. Nicolai Gedda is the perfect exponent of the title role. Listening to his French it is easy to forget that he wasn't a natural speaker. Régine Crespin combines her experience with recital and grand opera in perfect marriage alternating between the intimate and the larger than life effortlessly. Ernest Blanc was not necessarily a true bass but he makes up for it in mellifluous singing. His devil is a pure gentleman. The sound is good.
